“What’s your flavor?”
Candice "Candi" Anderson is a professional violinist whose music spans decades and genres. Bringing everything from top 40 hits,R&B, hip-hop, afrobeats, reggae, and timeless classics to life with every note. Her tagline,
“What’s your flavor?”, is a playful nod to her name and a reflection of her musical versatility, inviting audiences to explore the many sounds she brings to each performance.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, and raised in southern New Jersey, Candi discovered the violin at the age of eight, immersing herself in the world of music through her school’s programs. Though she initially followed a path toward medicine, the violin was never far from her heart and now proudly holds 36 years of experience. She taught herself beyond the classroom, blending classical foundations with the rhythms, melodies, and sounds that moved her, crafting a voice that is distinctly her own.
Candi’s life outside of music has been a testament to resilience. A domestic violence survivor and single mother, she raised three sons now 19, 20, and 22, on her own, navigating life’s challenges with courage and unwavering determination. In 2020, at the age of 38, after years in the corporate world of health insurance, she took a leap into her dream of becoming a professional violinist, a decision both thrilling and terrifying, but one that defined her next chapter.
Her passions run deep. Growing up, she rarely encountered musicians who looked like her, and that experience shaped her mission: to merge the music she loves with her instrument, bringing authenticity, diversity, and soul to every performance.
Now based in St. Petersburg, FL, Candi hails as Tampa Bay's violin queen and believes that music is more than sound, it is connection, emotion, and storytelling. Every performance is an invitation to feel, to celebrate, and to remember that music can unite, empower, and leave a lasting imprint on the heart.
